Since day one


we are using custom overlays for our Counterstrike broadcasts and we are convinced that a unique HUD is key to the vibrant image of a tournament displaying the game and its relevant data accordingly. Therefore we developed our own HUD technology and and its corresponding HUD controller giving us the possibility implementing the event/ tournament design of our partners into the game.

With our gained experience in Counterstrike HUD design, we moved on to other titles and with the use of ROSS XPression developed HUDs for games like FORTS and broadcasts like Final Fantasy XIV.

Counterstrike HUD introduction

A major portion of about 70% of any Counter-Strike broadcast is spend In-Game; therefore displaying the the games key information in a unique overlay (HUD) is of the upmost importance. The HUD adds a high recognition value and is often seen as the number one point of contact between the viewer and the overall event and brand identity. Appearing in different sizes and colours, they all share the same fundamental concept: acting as the most important source for game information for casters and viewers on any playback device.

ANATY HUD 1.0

The ANATY HUD 1.0 was - like the name suggests - our first HUD creation. Based on the old ESL HUD, it was featured in all of our early casts and smaller productions. The version seen in the picture is a slightly darker version modifieds to fit the ESL DACH league CI. Its sleak 2-line design was clean and leaves enough screen-space for the gameplay to shine, yet shows all the important information.

UPS HUD 2020

The UPS 2020 HUD was our first commissioned work for the 2020 iteration of the German CS:GO league UNITED Pro Series. It promptly featured the hexagonical design and intense color scheme of the event created by Matecrate in Hamburg. We worked with them to optimize the viewing experience throughout the league and optimized it for season 2 in 2021.

UPS HUD 2021

The UPS HUD 2021 was once again commisioned by Matecrate from Hamburg to be featured in the second iteration of the German CS:GO league UNITED Pro series 2021. Based on season 2020s HUD, for this season we focussed on readability for colourblind people (red-green deficiency) and tried an early approach on optimizing the HUD for subsequent content usage in portrait mode (9:16 aspect ratio) for Instagram and other social media.

99 Damage HUD

The 99Damage HUD was meant to be a short term solution for the biggest German CS:GO league: The 99Damage Liga and was also featured in the first season of the combined championship ESL Meisterschaft by 99Damage in spring of 2022. It is roughly based on the ANATY HUD 1.0 and reworked to fit a 3-line design for the player-sidebar. It was supposed to get redesigned for upcoming seasons, yet it stayed the same for two more seasons.

ANATY HUD 2.0

The HUD 2.0 became our first complete redesign for our ANATY Invitational tournament in 2022 and layed the foundation for its CI. It prominently features Augmented Reality implementation and  was our first HUD to feature an integrated replay HUD with less information. It also got a complete framework overhaul regarding animations. 

GG.BET HUD

Based on the ANATY 2.0 HUD, this version was designed to work within the guidelines of GG.BET design, featuring their widely known orange as the main colour. The coloursheme was created in multiple calls with the LVL Berlin and GG.BET and the HUD was featured at the GG.BET  showmatch between the newly created VITALITY and NAVI rosters after the 2023 pre Counterstrike 2 rostershuffle.

The ANATY MINIMAL HUD will feature a more minimalistic design, a complete overhaul of the HUD management solution and will be optimized the for subsequent content usage in portrait mode (9:16 aspect ratio) for Instagram, TikTok and other social media.

Final Fantasy XIV

Early 2023 we got asked by MOGTALK - the biggest Final Fantasy XIV creator - to help realize a 6-day round-the-clock charity stream for extralife covering the “race to worlds first - omega protocol” finish. Being in charge of the whole production, we also got to design the stream.

Main feature of the design was the L frame design. Casters, the custom scoreboard and every animated feature got implemented in it using ROSS XPression.

The scoreboard on the top right was custom designed after the ingame-equivalent in FFXIV using Adobe Illustrator, implemented and animated with ROSS XPression.

FORTS

In Febuary 2023 we teamed up with the German content creators Salzwerk and Bonjwa organizing a FORTS 1v1 tournament. Being in charge of the whole production, we also got to design a complete custom HUD with XPression.

The HUD was designed from the ground up in Adobe Illustrator and vaguely inspired by the games ingame overlay showing the most important ingame data utalizing a community modification giving us access to stats regarding “metal”, “energy” and “core health” with animations timer and tournament stage got added by us aswell.

We also designed a custom “versus / into-game” transition in XPression showing the picked commanders for each player. The comanders got selected after the map pick and ban, which we also custom-created.

ROSS XPRESSION

Enabling all of our real-time broadcast animations and graphics is ROSS XPression. This real-time graphics program is used around the world for the biggest sporting events and enables the operator to show live data in complex animations and graphics. Since January 2023 we’ve got it in our ANATY studio using it for selective broadcasts since. 

ESL Pro League Conference January 2023

During the playoffs of the early-2023 season of Pro League Conference, we got to use XPression for the first time. Animating the  map selection process and the tournament tree/ shedule adding additional value to the whole production.

During the 2023 seasons of ESL Challenger League Asia, we got to use XPression for animating the map selection process adding additional value to the whole production.
